Cheers for that Sleepless.
Yes I have allowed Limewire access with the Zonealarm firewall and also the java.exe I read about somewhere but still the brickwall is there.
It is showing 9 files sharing but no hits. Suppose I could disable zonealarm altogether while using Limewire but a bit reluctant to do that as its never been a problem before and always seems to work well perhaps too well for Limewire?. Are there better(?) firewalls available?.
Cheers
Steve

When you used BitSpirit before this, did you use ZoneAlarm as well ?
If so, then were you getting any remote peer connections using it?
I haven't tried BitSpirit but usually in BitTorrent programs it will say either L(Local) or R(Remote) beside the IP on the connected Peers list.

If you only get L then firewall is blocking something, if you get both L and R then it isn't blocking.

BTW these 9 files that you're sharing. Would you consider them popular? (don't mention names)
If they are rare files that you think not many are trying to find, then it could take a while for them to get hits. You could try disabling ZoneAlarm for maybe half an hour to see if that makes a difference though, just no internet browsing while you have it off. You could also try and leave Limewire on for a long time (eg. 24 hours) to see if anything shows up in the hits column.

Software like eg. PeerGuardian2 can in some cases make the Brick wall show as well.

I had that darn Brick Wall myself for ages before properly configuring my router, and am absolutely sure that files showed up in searches, because people uploaded files from me where I was the only host, which were not rated at Bitzi and I wasn't downloading anything (browse host not an option then). I notice a big difference in the number of hits I get now that it's gone though. The screenshot was taken after like 15-20 minutes after starting up Limewire.

In Limewire Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config
What are your settings?
If the Firewall is disabled in your router then you should be able to just use manual portforward (use the same number both for listening port and forwarded port) Then Allow that port (Both TCP and UDP , Incoming and Outgoing) as an advanced rule in your ZoneAlarm.

Hi all
Sorry for delay replying. Yes I did use zone alarm with BitSpirit no probs.
The 9 files I can share are only gps mapping stuff so popular??.
Not using PeerGuardian2 or anything like it.
Manual port forward settings are Forward and listening port 6346
Thanks again
Steve

Try portforwarding your LinkSys instead of disabling the firewall in it.

There is a good chance that you will find an exact guide on how to do this on this page. Just choose Forwarding, scroll down to your router, click it and then choose Limewire the same way.

www.portforward.com

Just remember the importance of having a static IP and that forwarded port and listening port have to be the same. And remember that there is only one port needed for Limewire.

And by the way GPS mapping is not sure to bring up many hits. Depends pretty much on filenames and format.
