Download options

Hi - new here but have been using limewire for a while. How do I change my options to avoid video, DVD clips etc. coming up. When I joined a couple of years ago it was to download music mainly but like the idea of videos etc. I selected the video and movie access when I joined but find there is a lot of porno under these options and don't want my family to have access to these. Can anyone tell me how I go about removing these search and download options so we are left with music only? Any help would be appreciated.

Selecting Facilities?

Reading through your post I found the following:

Let me say unconditionally, there is no such selection process when buying LW, there are only two versions of LW and these are Basic, which is free, and Pro, which cost $18.88 and for that you are entitled to six months worth or updates and upgrades. Also note that LW, both Basic and Pro are only available from the following: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml

If you got your LW from anywhere else then chances are you got ripped off.

As for your problem (and to be honest I am not sure that you have LW), there is a facility, within the Options menu, where you can exclude file types by typing their extensions (the three characters that appear after a files name, e.g. filename.mpg) in the space provided. You can type as many extensions as you like and LW will exclude all those files from it search.

Therefore, you would add video extensions such as mpg, mov, avi, wmf, and so on.

However, before you do any of that I would strongly suggest that you check that you have a legitimate copy of LimeWire because if you don’t your copy could be full of spyware, adware, unknown bugs and other assorted rubbish.

PS. I would also suggest that you download the LW user manual from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/userguide.shtml

Although it says Version 4.9 on the cover the instructions are also valid for the latest version of LW, i.e. 4.12.6

Can't remember where I got it from - one of those sites that advertised lifetime access to music downloads for a fee. Looks like I should uninstall and start again - Thanks for your help UK Bob!
