Hello, Thanks for getting back. Uninstalled what I had, reinstalled from the site you provided, still getting warning message "LimeWire does not have lecense agreement", appreciate your help but I think I'll revert back to SoulSeeker.

Excellant and thanks, download works. I've another problem hopefully last. When I try and playback downloaded track goes looking for "License Acquisition" and a Pop Up media.com appears requesting me to download contained application. Sorry for being a pain and thanks again for previous.

Hi Hobo,
I'm trying to get some specific answers for copyright protocol. I've read previous threads, but they still seem unclear. It appears that there's no real way of telling what is or is not copyrighted. If that be the case, everything I download is potentially stolen. Am I right in thinking that?

You are very kind to assist my querry for honest involvement. I downloaded a large amount of music before understanding that I may be in violation of copyrighted material. Now I have to determine if: I must delete my music files and the LW software and just go to iTunes and pay for whatever I get. As you can tell, I'm not well schooled in this area of technology. Appreciate the coaching.

With LimeWire you can have a look at explicitely legal files:
Just select "audio" and as license: "creative commons" and search.

Then just select a file which shows the "cc" icon, rightclick it and select "show license".

In the PopUp-Window just click "Verify", and LimeWire will check if the license is valid (there's quite a few fakes out there, but you can recognize them in the way I described here).

Also you can join the Polar Skulk, whose mission is to push more free and legal files into the Gnutella Network:

I know of at least about 15 files, which have a verified and verifiable license.

They are my own works, though :)

works in english:
- dragons lament
- magock
- parentcurse
- wind-to-thy-wings2

works in german
- drachenklage
- frankfurt-haie-otakus
- dildo-backenspalter
- harpie
- jan-waechter-koll
- ignisphaero
- nymphe
- saengerin
- schimmel
- ueberfuellt
- weltentor-fuer-kinder

Just search for the names. You should find at least some of the files :)
