playing downloaded file types

Hi everyone ! This is my first time here.
I hope someone can help.
When I search for files to download Im
seeing two different types.
One has wmp symbol (circle with an
arrow pointing right).
The other looks like a small windows classic
view folder.
When I download the ones with the wmp
symbol wmp opens and they play fine
but when I download
the other I cant play them.
I get no warning or popup, it does nothing.
Also does anyone know how to transfer the
files from limewire library to the wmp library?

Any help is greatly appreciated !
Thank you !

When you search for files, the icons you see represent the program that will attempt to open the files (the default program for that type of file). That does not mean that you have the appropriate codec necessary to open the file.

Info on Codecs & Alternative Players

You can either download the codecs to go with your current player (WMP) or you can download another player (VLC is good) with the codecs built in.

This should answer your second question:

Windows Media Player 10 Guide - Adding to your library and burning a CD

Hope this helps

I downloaded the VLC player and now all the files have turned to vlc files and I cant preview downloads and getting a video to play is not just click and play. I haft to go through many steps to get a file to play and thats only if I can find the file.
How do I set the limeware back up so that I can preview files or set it up so that I can preview files with the VLC player?
Thank you for your help!

Have a look here
Using VLC player (Windows)

You won't be able to preview or launch a file from within LW unless you're using the 4.13.0 Beta version.
