If you are looking to download LimeWire, DON'T! It is the biggest peice of **** program out there. I've been using it for a few months now and everyday I have a different problem with it. Download some other program and save yourself some time.

Look in these forums, every single topic is about having a problem. "Why won't this work", "please help me", "it won't load".

.. then... why does mine work without any problems?

My guess is thomjc (if that is your real name) hasn't been to many forums before. They are all filled with problems! That is what they are there for! If we all just sat around saying, "Boy, this Limewire thing sure is swell!" then what would be the point?

I notice he doesn't recommend any other programs, which to me indicates that he hasn't tried any other programs.

He says that he has had different problems everyday, yet from his high post count of ONE I would guess he's never asked for assistance. He must have all of the answers (maybe we should listen to him! )

I wouldn't call it the biggest piece of ****, but yeah, just like every other program, there's gotta be a problem here and there.

Like now, after using it for a few years without any problems, I'm beginning to have trouble with it. I transferred it to my external drive (I still have the original on my main hard-drive too), and now when I load up LimeWire, and download something, the screen goes all gray - like as if it's froze and I have to CTRL ALT DEL to shut it down. It only began a couple of days ago, and I'm worried that if I uninstall it then reinstall, I'll lose my 1700+ songs.

BTW, forums of any kind are around to offer help, in case you haven't taken any notice.

Why would you loose you 1700 songs ? (You wouldn't) They will still be in the same place. Uninstalling LimeWire does not delete the files you have downloaded it just removes LimeWire.

The link below may be of some help for your problem.

Because I have them downloaded and saved into a certain spot in the actual LimeWire folder. I've been transferring them over to a folder outside of LimeWire, so maybe that'll help.

Thanks for that link, too. It was kinda helpful. :)

Sounds like you've got a worm. Take a look at the end of point 2 in the following thread:
