Question Should I pay for Limewire Pro

I hope this post isn't TOO cheeky. I would like to purchase Limewire Pro from Limewire's own site but being a cynical kind of person I'm worried. What's to stop the folk at Limewire raiding my credit card or simply not giving me Limewire Pro after I've paid for it. ?

A reputable company like the official limewire company would never intentionally rip you off or re-charge your credit card....And if by chance you do not receive your Pro we have the contact info of the person who will rectify the problem...

Wondering Why is right.

If it helps, I've donated to Pro about 8 or so times, and they have always been trustworthy with my info.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go ahead. But (sorry there is always a 'but') it's not as if I could fly to the U.S. and speak to the contact person face to face if something went horribly wrong or he/she would fly to Scotland to give me my money back. As for Limewire being a reputable company, I'm sure that's the case but isn't the whole idea of p2p illegal in the first place ? Not that I'm bothered. Anyway cheers.

Default Legal P2P

Where P2P downloading is legal or not is really a matter of the jurisdiction you're in. In Canada it is not illegal as long as you don't try to sell copies. The record companies have tried a number of times to shut it down but the courts here tend to look at it as if you were downloading music to a cassette, like we used to do, or copied a VHS tape. That's what hacks me about all these disclaimers you have to accept and about Microsoft's attempts at playing censor over licences. And I got news for all those recording industry jerks and the rest of these zealots...if I can't get it legally, I can sure get on the net and find a way to do it some other way.

I bought LimeWire Pro before. I have even renewed it. They only charged my mom once. The first time. And when I renewed it they charged us for that. So it was all fine.

Interesting that you have the idea that p2p is illegal, which is NOT the truth. LimeWire (one of the key developers of the Gnutella technology) is about developing a a network that is independent of central control . . . what is called "distributed computing."

Check out http://www.limewire.org/ to get a better perspective on the project.

Cheers
