How to begin...
 

Hey all

Just downloaded LimeWire. I used WinMX a few years ago, but that's long since gone. So. Question: how do I start?

I've got the main LimeWire program up, but whenever i type something into the serch I get no results. I even tried stuff like "American Idiot", which I know must be out there somewhere, just to check it wasn't just me searching for something particually obscure, but still nothing.

I've looked through the user guides, but can't find anything that seems to cover my problem.

Any help much appriciated!

Ok. Right, here goes:

I'm on Windows XP
Broadband connection
Trying to connect from home, where I've got wireless connection to our network, which is shared with our house computer. (I'm on a laptop).
We use Toucansurf ISP
I get a "your test worked!" page when I click on the link
Not sure what firewalls are exactly, but I'm on Tesco security/antivirus.
Just found a firewall button. Apparently, my windows firewall is turned off.
Can't find how to check memory etc...

And when I open LimeWire, there's a little symbol in the bottom, an earth-type thing with a wall infront of it. And a green circle with an 8 in it.

That ok?

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

How do I find the modem and router numbers?

And yep, I get the blue world with the wall symbol.

To find out what model of modem/router you have, check out the house computer & see what devices are plugged into that:)
