Upload limits?

Hello,

I have a very bad internet connection :-( and have to limit the upload speed. LimeWire says, that if I drag te limit upload slider to zero, the upload speed will be zero... but if I drag the slider to the utter left, the text under the slider still says:

Upload speed: 10,94kbs

Is it possible to get a upload speed of 0?

Thanks!

Open LW and go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Slots, and set the "Max Upload Slots" to 0, click apply. That will stop all uploads.

You should consider opening some slots back up when your not d/loading. The whole idea is to share files with others. If nobody shared there wouldn't be any files to d/load .

Not sharing may limit your downloads also. Some users don't allow downloads from "freeloaders", (people not sharing).

Thanks, for the comments! Ok, then I will keep the slowest upload ratio with some slots open.

What kind of internet connection do you have? You have it set to cable right now. Setting it to modem lowers the minimum upload speed even further. I second the idea, however, that you raise the speed when not using the connection for your own purposes.

Good Luck

So in other words you intend to have people attempting to download files from you at zero speed. WOW what a nice person you are. Some people I am sure will think you are belonging to the RIAA, etc. & will ban your ip because they will think you are offering fake files. I hope you realise what a pain you will be for people out there. If you don't wish to share then don't. But don't be a nuisance on the network by pretending to share files that people can't get. Not too many people would disagree with me on this point. It sounds to me like you have set yourself the wrong Connection Speed if you can't control upload speed properly. But then you hinted your intention is to offer ZERO upload speed.

LimeWire is p2p (Peer to Peer); sharing between 2 or more people. Some people are so so selfish & greedy & in your case totally inconsiderate of others. What fun it would be if everybody set their upload speeds so zero. Then NOBODY would get any files to download. And why should anybody share with people who are not willing to share. In some cases there is pressure from ISP's but this is not the norm.

can't u just set your firewall settings to allow downloads and not uploads for LW? Not that i think that that is the right thing to do!!
