Files not showing in search

I'm confused.

I search for files and whilst a few show up even more seem to be available when I browse hosts yet they don't show on the searches. This happens a lot - why aren't they showing up as part of my search?

I've added my system details here in case they help fix this:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
Windows XP

2. What firewalls you have?
XP only as far as I know

3. How much ram?
1gb

4. Hard Disk space available?
142gb

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
1mb broadband

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Virgin Media cable modem.
Linksys Wireless-G broadband router

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
House.

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
LW 4.12.11
Java 1.6.0

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?
Virgin Media

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Yes, it worked.

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
Wireless router to my daughters PC. Only P2P software is Limewire.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
I've been using it for 2-3 weeks.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342
Yes I do.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
I have no idea what this means!

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall :)
Nod32 anti virus

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
UK

Any help would be most appreciated!

Cheers.

Sorry, I also have Zonealarm installed. The Windows XP Firewall is turned off.

Can nobody offer any advice on this problem?

Have you tried looking for the answer yourself in the last TWENTY HOURS?

You have a firewall somewhere that is messing with things (hence the brick wall in front of the globe). I would recommend port-forwarding your router, as it may have an internal firewall. Go to port-forward.com, and click on port-forwarding. Select your router from the list and then select Limewire. Instructions will follow.

Let us know if you have luck. If not, further suggestions can be made. Try reading the stickies at the top of each of the subforums. They have tons of useful information, including the information that I just provided for you.

Good Luck

Dan

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't been able to folow the stickies directly as all this is pixie magic to me!

The firewall is now gone but there is still the issue of not being able to find the files via search that I can when I browse a host.
