Help please I can't get Limewire to work! Everytime I download Limewire I get the following error This is limewire. The official website is www.limewire.com Limewire has ecountered a fatal internal error and will now exit. This is generally caused by a corrupt installation. Please try downloading and installing limewire again. Despite doing what it says I still get the same error. Any ideas ? |
Try doing a fresh install of LW and java. With LW shut down go to the add/remove programs control panel and uninstall your current version of java. Now download and install J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 11(use the offline installer): Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Then uninstall LW. Don't use the add/remove programs to uninstall. Go to the program folder, it should be found at C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Uninstall.exe. Double click the Uninstall.exe file. That should uninstall it. Then search your hdd for limewire and delete any references. Now dl and install LW using the offline installer: Lime Wire » Download LimeWire |
Problems with Limewire not opening I've tried everything from the advice on this board, nothing seemed to help. I went into Control Panel and turned off the Firewall from Windows (I have firewalls through DSL, etc.). Started working fine after that. I hope this helps someone else. Thanks to all those who gave the advice. |
