Default Limewire working in Lab Environment

Hi. I'm trying to get Limewire to work in an isolated lab environment. Iit will work across a vlan, but not across a router due to the TTL of 1. after looking online, I found out one of the systems needs to be a supernode, or ultrapeer and will only turn into one if it has an outbound connection. Is there a way to force this?
