![]() Hi guys, I generally don't need to resort to forums, however in this case i'm all outta ideas. I don't run a firewall on my comp, my router has UPnP enabled, I also have a port forward within it on the only two port numbers I could find within my Limewire settings, and it still continually has Connecting.. and it also says I have a firewall up. The only thing I can think of is if someone has put a firewall on our network, however there is not one enabled within the router. If this was the case can someone tell me how to find out if there is one. Also when I go to the Connection tab on Limewire, it has no connections there, and if I add one, it waits about 2 seconds and then it disappears. I really have no idea what to do, shareaza doesn't work either, however some other P2P clients e.g Utorrent do! Also, limewire worked before I reformatted my computer, with the same installer. I tried the original installer, which didn't take, then I tried the latest installer. If anyone can assist, it would be most welcome. Ty |

![]() Choose either using UPNP or port forwarding. If your router supports UPnP, enable it within the router & then choose the UPNP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Just remember that some routers aren't so reliable in UPnP mode (eg some Linksys models) & there was a recent MS update which caused problems with UPnP for some people. Use the forum search if you want more info about this. IMO, port forwarding would be the best thing to try. If you've set up port forwarding for your router, you should be forwarding the port that LW listens on. Tools > options > advanced > firewall config. There you'll see LW's listening port. You only need to forward one port number...LW's listening port. Did you follow instructions from this site???? PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall If you can find your router in the list, then choose LW from the list of programs. Now you'll see detailed instructions for port forwarding. Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP, if it's in the instructions. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number ![]() If you're still stuck then please give us your system details, otherwise we don't have a clue what's going on with your setup. ![]() yeah, but you see the problem is that I havn't changed router, just reinstalled windows, and it worked fine on my router before, and I don't think anyones messed around with it in that short time either. So my guess is the error is on my actual computer. Not sure where tho. |
