Unhappy How much space does Limewire take up?

Hey, I haven't yet purchased Limewire merely because I'm not sure how much space it will take up on my computer and if it will slow down my programs too much. I'd like to just begin with letting everyone know that I have no idea about computers so please reply with laments terms =) I am working off my laptop which runs Windox XP, has dial up internet (internal modem), anything I save is placed onto my flashstick, I don't download any other programs, my computer runs a few games which I'll more than likely delete to make room and if I've read it right it says that I only have 1.51GB of free space left on my computer. I use my laptop for uni work and the internet so i can't afford for it to function slowly, and over time it has become slower. I am really sorry for not being able to give much information but I would really appreciate it if anyone could let me know anything! My only reservation about getting Limewire is it's possibility to not fit or it causing my other programs to run slower. If anyone could get back to me asap I'd appreciate it! Thank you M.

If you are going to use a peer to peer sharing program such as LimeWire, you should frequently defragment your hard disk drives & partitions. Such programs tend to fragment files quickly. A fragmented drive becomes slow. Also make sure your drives don't get beyond 75% full if possible. The fuller a drive is, the slower it gets to read. I would also recommend you do not download files to your system drive or partition. By not doing so you are lessening the chance of running out of system space, and also your system slowing down due to fragmentation & lack of space.

The limewire program takes up approximately 20 MB or less. Anything else is what you download or share using the program. After all, gnutella is a peer to peer sharing network. What files you find are what other people like yourself are sharing. If nobody shared, then there would be nothing to download.

Don't get the Pro version, get the Basic(Free) version. That way if it slows down your computer too much or your have trouble connecting(there's a fair chance you will if your connecting through your uni). You can always uninstall it and and delete it and you won't be out anything.

Download it from the official site: Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

Space is probably gonna be an issue. Your pretty low on disc space. It's probably gonna slow things down and it may not work properly. You'll have to try it and find out.
