I have never had a problem in at least five years connecting to the network. I would get a turbo connection almost instantly. Now it just sits at the one bar saying "connecting." I have disabled the tips at startup and manually connect after opening LW. I have tried with ZoneAlarm on and off. I do get hosts on the connections tab but they just keep going by and never make a connection. Leaf connection status.
NOTE: I am able to use FrostWire but would rather use my LW Pro. I know I have an older version, but this version has always worked for me. I use this version for specific reasons. I tried the newest version and had all the exact same problems, etc. I have gone through about 40 pages of the Connection Problems thread on forums not only here but on other site. This is really frustrating. I am pretty knowledgeable about computers/software/hardware and have never had this problem before. I have a cable connection 6M/256k.
Thank you for any help you may have. This is VERY frustrating!!! :(

Hi earlywilbur, Sorry for the delayed response.

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access? Firewall configuration instructions (click on link).

Your westell will need to be portforwarded. There are instructions on portforwarding here: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall, look for your modem and follow the instructions. Be sure to setup a static ip or it won't work. Don't worry if you can't find your exact model there. The setup is basically the same. Within LimeWire: Manual port forward instructions & sample image. I also have a westell, so if you run into problems I could post some screen shots.

Hopefully that'll get you started. Let us know if you need more help.

You could also try the fixes in this thread: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should!
