Question Limewire, Vista, and Norton problems...

I sucessfully downloaded Limewire but when I go to start the program, it stops at 12% Loading HTML. I can not get it to completely load Limewire and begin running. I have disabled my firewalls but still no luck. Anyone using Norton, Vista, and Limewire that is actually downloading music?

I have Norton Internet Security and installed Vista and ever since I have not been able to download a single thing for over a month now. It worked great before I installed Vista for a good 6 months. I've tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling to allowing the the programs through my norton firewall settings. I just have no idea what to do anymore.

I'm going to make a comment here, but please note I am not a LW user, Vista user, and my version of Norton Firewall is 2003 which I've bent to my will to enable it to be currently updated (i.e. I don't know what current versions are like)...

go into Norton's firewall configuration and delete all references to LW...uninstall LW and your Java application...reboot your computer...download and install a current Java application (I recommend Sun Java)...install LW again..then fire it up and allow it through Norton's firewall and check the always box..

I have this same problem on my laptop.
Although LimeWire 4.12 runs fine on my desktop, which is running Vista Ultimate.

Well...start off by doing what Peerless said & remove all of your LW rules from Norton, then reinstall Java & LW, then allow LW thru the Norton firewall again.

Try this version of Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

When you reinstall LW, make sure to use the offline installer. When you click to download & the download box pops up - cancel it. Now you'll see the options to download the offline installer.
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that's no help then please give us some details about your setup or we can't help.
