Is Limewire safe??

This is my first post here; my daughter downloaded Limewire on to my computer, and while the music and video content here is intriguing, my question is simple. I've heard that Limewire is sort of an open door to viruses, worms, trojan horses, etc. Is this true? I use Active Shield as a virus protection. Any reassurance would be appreciated. Thanks. Steve

Hi, Steve and welcome...

Your question is in re: a very large bag-of-worms....

There ARE Tricks & Tips that can be applied in order to avoid DownLoading the great majority of garbage.... The main secrets are very simple in that they are in reference to file sizes...
Impossibly small file sizes for a movie or song or application, for example...

Please, study other posts here on this subject and be absolutely certain to examine, use and participate with the Bitzi system !

Please see below in my 'sig' and click on Bitzi - Check Files Before Download !

There is a lot more info available here for you in these Gnutellaforums about the obvious rogue file sizes and other points...

Hope this helps as at least a starter for you...

Steve

If your daughter is under 16 then don't let her use LW unsupervised.

Was it downloaded from a site besides Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «? It might come with spyware or viruses if downloaded anywhere else.
