Limewire says my email address isn't recognised

I ecently had some trouble with my PC which i had to restore to default configuration. I've tried to get my LW pro back but when I log in, the system says my email address isn't recognised.

Thing is I still have the paypal receipt for $18.88 to Lime Wire LLC. The email address I'm trying to use is definitely the one I used to buy LW Pro.

How do I sort this or have I been scammed. I did run Limewire Basic for ages before buying through the application itself.

LW Pro support was only for a 6 month period until very recently when they introduced the option of a 12 month period. At the end of 6 months your name will automatically drop off their database. During the last 4 weeks of support your personal pro download page will say you are nearing an end to support & offer a discount to continue. This is why I recommend to Pro users to BOOKMARK personal pro download page & check it periodically.

Be that as it may, the fact remains that I have paid perfectly good money for a product. I didn't require an upgrade and was happy to continue using it as it was.

I was able to use it well past the 6 months period of the support that you've mentioned. Frankly, if they've taken my $18.88 then the least they could do is bloody well keep my email address on file - surely it doesn't take up that much room in their systems.

You say you recommend to users to bookmark their download page but shouldn't that suggestion be made when the purchase is actually made. Why should someone have to become a member of a forum to get obviously extremely important tips like this ?

Are you saying that I need to give them another $18.88 because if so, this stinks of sharp practice . . .

I don't like some of their practices also & have spoken to some of their employees. Most notably those most recent issues that affected many including yourself. Yes, more information should be included on their website so people are not surprised by what they should/could have been informed about at the outset.

But yes, after support finishes, you have the option to continue by repurchasing Pro, keeping your present copy of pro (if you have a backup), or using Basic.
As I was saying about the discount during that last month of support, it used to be $14 to continue. I am not sure what it is now nor what they offer at the end of the yearly option.

And btw, certain issues including this one has distanced us somewhat from the LW.org. For a start, they have been paying less attention to this forum, less attention to issues brought to them by persons such as myself, less attention to program bugs, less attention to feature requests. Their programmers rarely visit these forums nowadays & the last one to post here was 16 months ago if that says anything. Their programming staff has quadruppled over past 12 months & their other staff has also increased. They seem to have become too big for their boots; losing touch with the end user / their customers.

Programs such as Phex & FrostWire are just as good & are free.

Thanks guys

I think I'll just use frostwire. Soon enough, Limewire will **** off enough people and the word'll spread. That's the beauty of cause and effect - always comes back to bite you on the *** . . .

Don't know any other software where you actually buy it and then, if you need to re-install it after 6 months or whatever, you have to pay again  There's a word for practice like that . . .
