number of downloads

hie guys am kinda knew i wanted to know does the number of files being downloaded at the same time affect the rate at which they are being downloaded. i mean am i supposed to download only a few lets say 3 movie files as opposed to downloading lets say 5 files thanx

I download ten files at a time and some will download faster than others, the speed of download is dependent on how fast the PCs hosting the file can upload, network congestion, bandwidth shaping (by most ISPs) and so on (that is, other limitations and limiting factors).

oh thanx so does it also help me having a faster broadband connection?

Yes it does, but don't get hung up on the "advertised" download speed, most ISPs the world over cannot deliver what they promise and some of them even have anti-P2P practices, i.e. they install "bandwidth shaping" equipment that blocks P2P traffic but lets browser traffic through untouched.
