Post here if you have/haven't had the message: "Limewire is currently connecting..."

It seems that everybody is having this problem! Before you make a search it says: "Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network" If you could take the time to post whether you have received the message or not, we could figure out if Limewire is the problem, not our computers! Thank you!

Limewire hangs connecting to network

I decided to upgrade to limewire pro today, that's when it started. I even
tried removing it and reinstalling the free version and the same occurs.
I've even tried to run it on my second OS, XP SP2 Home on both partitions. Same problem. It must be a server issue with limewire or gnutella ? There's nothing on Limewire's website to indicate trouble, and I assume because these posts aren't flooded, many users can still connect.
What's up ????

Done everything?

Ok well, I have been on here approx. 3 hours reading through forums and trying everything that they have said. I have completely uninstalled and deleted several times. Went to LW's files to fine the Gnutella file to delete it, dl it again, and put it back in LW's files. The Gnutella file was not there, so I dl'd it and put it in. I have checked, and unchecked every box that was suggested. Checked my firewalls, and still no connection. I have no idea what to try next......

cocanut617 December 27th, 2007 06:37 PM

Yes I Have Seen The Message. I Think Once To Often On The Past Couple Of Days. I Have A New Computer So I'm Pretty Sure It's Limewire.
Should You Find a solution Please Post It.

jamiejamie December 27th, 2007 06:48 PM

:mad:Mine always seems to come up with that. What do I do?

ccsmith35 December 28th, 2007 05:28 PM

I have used limewire in the past also. It always worked fine. I upgraded everytime they asked me to practically. I recently had to reformat my hard drive and lost my limewire pro. So I paid for it again and I haven't been able to get it to connect one time. This has been going on for a week. I called my ISP and had them to show me how to disable my router firewall and still nothing. Glad it's just not me, but can somebody please post how to fix this. Thank you in advance.

lwester December 28th, 2007 05:33 PM

I seem to get this problem every time I try to do a search in Limewire but have to admit and I using the free installed basic version. When I first installed it I didn't have a problem until I switched my computer off then came back to it the next day. The solution was to go into the program files (rather than the the shortcut) this seemed to do some sort of mini install and everything was fine. Until today, I am now getting the same problem and accessing via the program files doesn't resolve it. To be quite frank, I am a little disillusioned with Limewire and unless someone can come up with a solution I think I will use something else.

Andy.F January 1st, 2008 02:04 PM

Yep, I'm getting the message

hi

you have the same things i have on my both desktop and laptop, accept the norton antivirus, have McAfee, same router, windows,so here is a suggestion that might help you,try to see if the status of your inbound and outbound is reading allow, not block on your windows firewall advanced with security,it worked for me,everybody has different opinion and suggestion,so try mine and see if it works ok.
