Cannot play video

Hey I just want to download movies and play them in my DVD Player.
I Downloaded 2 movies DORA(Mpeg) and TITANIC(AVI)the DORA movie plays on my PC but not in my DVD Player. TItanic does not play at all in either device......Whats up with that.....? Can anyone help me with this...!
