LW Stopped Connecting

Hey Y'all - I installed LW a year or two ago and used it successfully occasionally for a period of time. A couple of months ago, I noticed that whenever I open it up, it never connects ...

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

I am having the same problem! I have rebooted my hard drive, uninstalled and reinstalled Limewire, and still nothing works! I've been using Limewire for a long time now and just a couple of days ago I try to log in and I can't get connected. I have tried all the advice to no avail. Please help!!

I've been having the same problem. If you keep reinstalling it sometimes it will work, but not very often.

doesn't connect

My situation is similar. It worked fine for a year (with pro). then my mac started screwing up and I had to reinstall the system software. Since then, LW opens but won't connect.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem as everyone else. Is there any one that has gotten any response from Lime Wire? I have emailed them my problem but not response yet. I have had Lime Wire now for almost two years and it worked great up until I paid for Lime Wire PRO. Not sure what is going on but I just paid for it in Sept. and haven't been able to use it much since. Any suggestions? MaryMO

I think i've cracked it! I've been having the same connecton problems, so while browsing, i discovered that i was getting this "id 4226 error event". I'm absolutely crap with putors so i cant put a link in, but try putting " error id 4226 " into google and click on to "blog.davidkaspar.com/archives...". Skip 2 pages until you come to the event 4226 patcher bit on lvl lords website. download and execute the patcher.
I followed the simple instructions (changing the 10 half open connections to 50) and after rebooting EUREKA!
Hope this helps .

Sarah, I tried what you said , downloaded the link to lvl lords and it came up but it also flashed that I was going to download potentially dangerous info. So, I undid what I had done and got out of it. I sure don't need anything installed that could give me more trouble. Tell us....since you did this....can you open Lime Wire and connect? I just think there is something wrong with Lime Wire, if not, why are so many people having the same problem connecting when before there was no problems? I am very discouraged with this and if there is not going to be connections we should be told....right? Thanks. Marymo

Hi Marymo. You're right not to install any old thing, but after trying all sorts of solutions and identifiying this error message in my admin tools, it seemed to make sense so i thought what the heck and went along with it. Stupid perhaps and potentially risky, but it works a treat for me so far. If anything dodgy happens in the next 24 hours i'll post it.

I decided to close down limewire and see if it connected straight away. Guess what?
It didn't!
So i looked in tools:options; firewall config, and i noticed that the listen on port number had changed, so i clicked to restore defaults, closed limewire, reopened to no avail.
Once again i checked out the listen on port and didn't recognise the number. So i clicked on restore defaults and the instant the tools window closed i connected! Curious, i looked to see the listen on port n° and it showed 6346... the same n° shown in grey for the manual port forward option. I have no idea whats going on but i seem to keep stumbling into solutions.
Perhaps this will make sense to someone.
Will try to close and reopen later to see what happens.

Update..

Just connected no problem. Looks though the 'patcher' combined with the 'listen on port' tweaking worked for me.
