The 'connect' problem is almost certainly a local thing re: your Internet Service Provider and structural traffic problems... (meaning they do not have access to sufficient hardware/bandwidth... meaning they are not spending enough on gear and line capacity rental !)  In fact, weekends and/or major holidays are great for Gnutella Network as there are increased numbers of users participating at such times !
