Same problem!

I have same problem. How do we reinstall the old version without losing all of our songs?

Pissedoffman7 March 2nd, 2008 07:20 AM

i think you should just leave all of your songs in my documents and if you uninstall lw, they should stay, and if you install the old one again, they should be there

ever since i got limewire pro, it doesnt seem to work anymore. It says trying to connect...i dont know what to do...i have uninstalled and re installed all the versions, including the beta one, to no avail..they all act the same...help, cos i miss my music! btw , it does show a brick firewall, but i passed your test so i haven 't got a clue as to what to do next.

i have had it up for the last half hour...nothing..thanks for trying tho..i appreciate it and from the sounds of it, from reading the troubleshooing stuff...i'm thinking it could be my firewall. but i know nothing about stuff like that and am afraid to touch it

Pissedoffman7 March 3rd, 2008 06:44 AM

it might be the firewall, or the filters depending on what ur gonna seach, like a song by metalliac or some porn lol:cheesy:

HI ALL,
Try this:- (you must show all hidden files)
[1] Open windows explorer (windows XP SP2) select Tools à select Folder Options à select View à select Show hidden files and folders.
[2] In windows explorer look for the Limewire Folder – go here:
c:\documents and settings\username\applications data\LimeWire
(or)
c:\documents and settings\username\limewire
[3] Ensure that limewire is completely off (check that it isn't in the system tray-bottom right-if it is click on it and select exit) now open the .limewire folder and look for and delete the gnutella.net file (see image below) If you don't find a gnutella.net file dont panic - go to para [4] and cont.

http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/LW_g...1196869679.jpg

[4] download a new version from (here) and save it to yr desktop
[5] Drag the new gnutella.net file from your desktop into the limewire folder.
[6] Close the LW Folder and start up Limewire

NOTE: If you are using VISTA click on the link below (how to show hidden files in windows vista) -- also you will find the LimeWire folder here:-
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire

If this doesn't fix yr problem:-
Go to Limewire links (below) click on (if LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if yr problem still remains after this click on (System details) fill in as much as you can and post here
Also see this note:
Whatever you try you can't seem to get LimeWire to connect.
A lot of connection problems are caused not by LW but by how your computer and some of its software is configured. Most connection problems are caused by a firewall. You must configure your firewall to allow incoming and outgoing connections on port 6346. You can consult your firewalls user manual if you have one, or consult the publisher’s website or contact a qualified professional to assist you in configuring your firewall. NOTE: ALTHOUGH DISABLING YOUR FIREWALL IS A GOOD WAY TO TEST IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM, YOU SHOULD NEVER PERMANTELY DISABLE IT JUST TO USE LIMEWIRE. Another reason you may not be able to get connected is because your ISP (internet service provider) or LAN (Local Area Network) may block file sharing or Gnutella. The only way to find out for sure if that is true is to call your ISP or your network administrator Also, most college networks block sharing and/or Gnutella.
Hope this helps
