What does this mean? (extension doesn't match file format)

Default What does this mean? (extension doesn't match file format)
I searched for a certain song. The search produced only one copy, so I downloaded it. But when I tried to play it, I got a message saying it couldn't be played because the extension (mp3) didn't match the file format.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

it means its not really an mp3 even though its named as one...might be a .rar, .zip, .avi, etc....

i download the pc inspector thing to get my files off of limewire that i accidentally deleted but i i dont no how to getthem back into my limewire

Something that is named as something else usually isn't good. You would be better of deleting it.

I think you missed the point...someone else has renamed the extension of the file (possibly with the hope that you would be curious enough to play around with it and as sleepless noted get yourself into some trouble)
