Cannot search

So i have used limewire for about 2 years and all of the suddon have come across multiple problems lately. I just deleted LW and than reinstalled it, once i opened LW I only had 1 bar so i made sure that LW was fully connected and it was. Than i looked again and all of my bars were green so i entered something to serach and once i clicked enter the whole part of where the searches appear became completely white, the thing where it says bitrate, artist, etc. completely vanished. This happens everytime i open up LW. This is driving me crazy, i have tried almost everything, any help?

If LW's connected, try the fixes below.

1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

2. Problems with the search

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them.

Try updating your Java: Java SE Downloads
Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing this one.

I did this aswell and nothing heppened.
I'm pretty much desperate right now and am greatful for the advice no matter if it helps or not.
So if any one has an idea of how to help than PLEASE let me know. Thank you.

Did you reinstall a version of LW that you've used before, or did you update to a newer version? Which version are you using?

Even though there are no column headers during a search, do search results show up at all?

Are you having any graphics problems with other programs? Have a look at this thread...even though the blank screen problem there's a little different to yours, maybe something will help?

No I installed the same version.
I am using LW 4.16.6 and no search results show up.
I am not having graphic problems eith any other programs.

A lot of people have had probs with 4.16.6.

If nothing in the 'loading blank' thread helps, try installing the latest LW Beta & see whether the same thing happens. You can download the Beta from the usual download page.
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

When you deleted LW's preferences folder, did you have to go through the setup wizard all over again?

Which OS are you using?

KarateCocoPuffs March 15th, 2008 05:58 PM

Well i want to use limewire i just don't want to have to pay for it.
So I don't think I'm going to download the other version.
I'm not to computor savvy so i dont even know what LW's preferences folder is, or what OS means.

birdy March 15th, 2008 06:53 PM

OS is your operating system...Windows 98, XP, Vista etc.

You don't have to pay for the Beta. All you have to do is click on the 'get basic' button, answer the question about copyright infringement & then when you get to the download page, click on the 'get beta' button.

In post #2 I posted links with instructions for deleting the preferences folder & you said that the tips didn't work...so I thought you would've tried them.
Just go through the instructions slowly & see how you go.
