Upgrade (can't find files after upgrade/?update)
 

Ok, last week I did the free upgrade for limewire. Now I can't find any of my songs or movies that I had. Can anyone help me find my music without having to go back and download them again? Thanks!!!

Same thing happened to me! I had over a 1000 files...! All gone! Have no idea how to fix them!

Try this > If you've updated LW and can't find your downloads!

And, never do an update of Limewire without first checking these forums for problems and issues !!!
Do not trust LW updates.

Well, if you are asking if the link has info that works for Vista, the answer is, YES.

If you are asking in a general manner, the answer is,

YES... Remove it and install Windows 2000 Professional or XP Professional and/or ubuntu or SUSE.

downloaded the update, can't find my library files. emailed limewire; got two responses: received your question, but still no response of help.

driving me crazy.

I even went back to a restore point, earlier than my update, then had to reinstall which gave me the newer version and . . . still NO library accessible.

Any thoughts?

Says at the bottom it's the answer for XP, and I'm not seeing the same type of stuff for Vista.

It should work in Vista...

Many other Vista users have had the same problem and apparently the problem was 'fixed'.

Hi -- I tried the fix you posted, but here's where I'm running into a problem. I can see the 'old' limewire files (that is, the songs i've downloaded prior to upgrading to the newest free version) when I go to Windows Explorer. However, when I am LImewire and try to find these files, the same 'shared' folder is empty. It's the same folder, same location as the one I can see in Windows Explorer, but my old songs aren't there. Any suggestions?

Same name, slightly different location. Your new folder is in My Documents, your previous Shared is in the 2nd previous higher up folder hierarchy. You should move them across, then press the Refresh button on LW. ;) yes they both are called Shared, but in slightly different locations.

C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Shared -> C:\Documents & Settings\your username \My Documents\LimeWire\Shared

C:\Documents and Settings - your username - Shared
C:\Documents and Settings - your username - My Documents - LimeWire - Shared

See how there are a couple of levels between. :)
