Was wondering if someone could help please??

I have downloaded Limewire as per instructions and have just recently upgraded to the latest version but I still have the brick wall in front of planet earth and I just don't seem to be getting the results from my searches also, my download speed is very slow. What can I do to fix this?? I have tried what they say on the Limewire help pages but it either does'nt seem to help or I get lost with what they ask me to do!! perhaps I am being stupid but don't know what else to do!!??

Thanks in advance

Is your LW connected properly (all green/blue connection bars)???

Make sure that Vista's firewall is configured to allow LW.
In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 > Apply > ok.

TalkTalk have caused problems for a lot of LW users. Use the forum search to look for talktalk & you'll find more threads, too.
It's Official - TalkTalk stopping P2P

Try using LW at different times of day...check the thread below;) See whether that helps your speeds.

You could also try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Huawei EchoLife-HG520s

Make sure that you've set up a static IP address first (those instructions have a link to static IP setup). LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number.

Hi guys, first time posting. Need your help. I've used limewire before but apparently I lost all idea on how to use it again. My problem now is that the firewall is being a problem. How can I fix it? The other downloading programs really are messy and right now I am having a hard time trying to use LimeWire.

Can you please let me know how to work this out?

THANKS A LOT!!!

thanks birdy

Not sure but I don't think my router was set for UPnP which I have now selected the options for it to do so

I now seem to get an intermittent connection strength and the brick wall also comes and goes.

At first, I did seem to get good results from my searches but now again slow and low results. the download speed is very very slow to start but then just seems to kick in for no reason.

I really don't think its still right??!!

I am not a techy person so not sure about all this port forwarding and permanent IP addresses etc. It all makes me very, very nervous

It's up to you whether you want try port forwarding or not...it's not anything that's going to stuff up your computer (the static IP address isn't in any way linked to your normal IP address...it's just set up so that your router can forward the port & recognise your computer). I couldn't find any info about whether your router supported UPnP, so I didn't suggest enabling that:o

Your random download speeds might just be down to TalkTalk...they have a FUP which will throttle p2p download speeds.
Find answers to your questions about TalkTalk in Help & Support

And this suggests that they're traffic shaping 24 hours a day now, rather than only during peak times.

Did you try changing ports?

Solved? We'll see.

I clicked on Tools -Options - Download and changed my speed from unlimited to about 10 KB, clicked on Apply and saw my download speed go to 10. Then I increased it to Unlimited (this is using the slide bar) and Apply. The speed returned to its normal of about 170kb.

Can't download

Help!! I'm new to limewire. After I have downloaded a program from Limewire, and try to launch it, nothing happens.

I then download it to my computer and when I double click RAR it tells me that there are no more endpoints available from endpoints

If I were you I would start checking my computer for a virus, Trojan or some form of malware.

You committed a cardinal sin, downloading a compressed file, these files usually contain viruses.
