Connection Fine... Won't Search

Okay, so I have used LimeWire on my desktop for a long time. Never had a real issue. I recently installed it on my laptop and the problems ensued.

I have a a Dell running on Windows XP. I have a Mcafee secuirty system, and i use Firefox. I downloaded Limewire version 4.18

Okay so I am connected fine. It says that my connection is very strong. However, when I click the "search" button at the bottom of the search pannel, nothing happens. The button compresses as if its being clicked, but stays there. It does not pop back out, no window comes up in main section. Nothing happens at all, even though I am fully connected to LimeWire.

So I thought that my firewall was causing the problem. There is a brick wall infront of my globe in LimeWire even though i am connected. So i went into the settings in my McAFee and edited it to allow full access to my LImewire. Nothing Chnaged.

So I went in to my Control Pannel in windows and allowed full access to Limewire. Still no change.

So I went back into the two firewalls and just disabled them both. Turned them both off. This upset my computer, but it was worth a shot. Still no change in limewire.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Limewire 3 times now, and i rebooted a dozen times.

Limewire still shows that I am behind a firewall, even though they are completely disabled. It still shows that I am fully connected (i have full bars), and it still will not search for anything. It just presses in the button, and it sticks there.

I am praying someone has some new ideas. Thanks

Update. I went through the licensing windows, and pop up windows. all buttons are cheked. tried reapplying defaults (as a matter of fact tried 3 time)... still no changes

tried adding manual IP addresses like it said in one of the threads, no change.

its not that there are no search results, as alot of these "wont search" threads talk about. my computer wont even let me click it "search" button.
I dont know whats wrong with it.

Please help!! I'm going crazy. I've been arguing with this thing for 3 hours now.

Backout LW 4.18. I went back to 4.16, and connection restored like a champ. I have two desktops that I upgraded(?) to LW 4.18. Connections went dead on both. That's the only common factor.

Download LimeWire Basic 4.16.6 - FileHippo.com. 4.16.3 also worked fine for me. :) (I didn't try some of the other versions.)
