Default Rank beginner needs help. (? listen to tracks before download)

Hi,
I'm an old fart with a new computer and as such, something of a dud com. I've taken to this Limewire mind you, as I slip and crawl my way into a wireless new world.
My problem is a simple one : I'd quite like to hear the track before I start the download. I've tried highlighting the track to get it to play, but one click brings up a dotted line, and a double click brings up the licence info. Help the old and grey !
Thanks,
P

Hi puffudder,

Sorry, but you can't listen to tracks before you download them. The way it works is - you do a search for a track & then LW searches the network for that file... then when the results show up on your search page, those results are from other people who are sharing that file. There's no central server. So you have to download at least part of the file before you can hear it.

You can preview the file as you download it - wait til ~ 10 - 15% has been downloaded & then click the 'preview' button below the download pane. That way, you can have a listen to what you're downloading - check whether it's the right track & whether it sounds ok etc

Just in case you have more questions about LW, check out the LimeWire User Guide and Frequently Asked Questions

And there are more tips here: How to find music
