Importing a cd created in Limwire

I can't load my dowloads into Itunes any longer (Itune 8.0)

Can I burn a cd (in Limewire) of my Limewire downloads and then import the cd to my Itunes so that I can upload to my Ipod?

Check out this thread: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)
There are a few different ways to transfer files to iTunes:) How did you move files in the past? Some people have found that dragging & dropping into iTunes doesn't work. Try adding files from LW's saved folder instead... I've never had a problem doing it that way.

You can't burn a CD in LW - LW won't burn CDs. You could burn a CD of your LW downloads using burning software & import that into iTunes, but I think it's much easier to find a way to add files from LW to iTunes & then transfer to your iPod;)

I presume you had intended to burn mp3's to CD audio format, then extract them as mp3's. That would mean reconversion back to mp3 which would mean a loss of quality. mp3's should never be reconverted to mp3 again. Converting to mp3 format process means some of the information is thrown away which helps the file reduce in size. How full is a glass of water if some has been poured out before you get it & then you throw more out. lol :D

But forgetting that, once the music files have been 'properly' added to iTunes they will be available for iPod. Ignore the LW playlists you see, they are not compatible with iPod, & those files have not been added to iTunes Music Library. Of course you can add songs to iPod via synching playlists you have created (not LW ones), or via manually adding songs to iPod (see tutorial how to manually update iPod.)

Transferring LW downloads to Itunes

I'm reading two different things here. One says you can't transfer any longer from LW to Itunes and you are saying you have no trouble doing it.

I've tried doing the transfer as recommended but nothing I do will allow me to transfer, which is why I asked about the CD possibility.

What are you , Birdy, doing?

Lord of the Rings February 8th, 2009 10:16 AM

You misunderstood Birdy. She meant you cannot drag from the LimeWire Library window. You can however drag & drop from the LW Saved or Shared folders onto the iTunes Library icon at the very top of the playlists. Did you read the link she gave you? It's all explained there how to do. :)

It not only has descriptions & image samples, but also video tutorial links.

I cannot drag and drop from the Shared or the Saved folders any LW tunes. I tried this before I posted, after I read the archives and saw the tutorial mentioned.

I'll try it again in case I missed something but I'm not hopeful.

Was that tutorial for pre 8.0 ITunes programs?

Thank you both for you prompt repsonses.

Successs

I repeated the instructions and instead of trying to move individual tunes
I moved the entire Saved folder. That seemed to workd but I'll know better when I try and upload them to the IPod

Thanks again.

There is a link directly to Apple's iTunes 8 tutorial also. Did you see that?
The basics in iTunes have never changed. Main changes have been they've added little extras. Even if you were seeing iTunes v.1 tutorial, it would apply to now. I've used every version since version 2.

Drag & drop works for me now from any where on my computer I have audio files. Not sure why it is not working for you. Works exactly as those sample images show.

Haven't seen the 8 tutorial but I'll check again.

I put all of my music on a separate drive. I then drag them into itunes. 99% of the files work this way. Occasionally a title needs to be shortened though.
