LW 5 not even opening

Help! Just downloaded LW for the first time and it won't open. Each time I click on it I get this message:
"You can't open limewire because it requires a version of Java that is not available (!!!). This application requires a 1.6+ version of java. The available version 1.5 may be able to open this application, but it may not work correctly"
The options are to use 1.5 or quit. If I try 1.5, LW still won't open.
I have an up to date Power PC imac running OS 10.5.6 and all software is the latest thanks to the software updater tool.
Help!!!

go to Download Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.12 - FileHippo.com and download the latest java runtime environment, reboot, then try to open it again, if not then download this version of limewire http://www.filehippo.com/download_limewire/4669/ because a lot of people are having a lot of problems with LimeWire 5.0 (e.g very few results in search and skin problems).
Sometimes the newest version of software isn't always the best :)

Thanks for help but those sites seem to be for PC users....do you know where I can get an older LW for a Mac?

Cheers Sheikh - Just downloaded 4.16 and all is working perfectly - am very happy. Why do they bother with newer versions when they don't even work???

TheFakeSheikh February 12th, 2009 08:19 AM

Happy i helped, my friend.
I dont know really i think they wanted to cut down on all the junk to make it safer, and a lot (well, most) of the search results were junk, so they filtered it all out, resulting in less results.
Be careful what you download :):):):):)
