When does LW Pro stop being Pro?

Hi everyone, this is my first posting as a newly registered member, so please be gentle with me!!! :D

Firstly I've only ever been an intermittent user, probably from fear of my ISP cutting me off and/or getting an unwanted virus. That said I did buy and use a Pro version wayback in Sept 2006 which I believe was v. 4.9.30 and I think this was subsequently updated/upgraded ? to v. 4.12.16, with which I enjoyed a Turbo Connection. I now seem to connect with v. 4.16.6 which doesn't offer the same Turbo Connection, only a Your Connection is Very Strong.

I apologise for whingeing on this inaugural post, but I was under the impression that if I paid for the Pro version - ok way back when - why won't it perform the way it used to?

:(

They only offer 6 months or 1 year Pro updates. After that you go back to basic when updating,

Yes unfortunately ... back then LW Pro only lasted for 6 months of support & updates. 2 years ago they brought in a 12 month option & since then occasionally offering other cheap no support Pro versions. Last I saw LW dropped the 6 month option a week ago.

LW 4.16 is quite a good version, its advantages over LW 4.9 include being able to connect to the entire network, whereas LW 4.18 & LW 5 will not allow versions older than 4.14 to connect to them.

In some cases despite using LW Basic you might occasionally be able to connect as turbo mode but that may depend on the network at the time & your set up, etc.

Thank you both for your speedy and informative replies. Looks like a case of pay up or shut up! With only occasional use, I guess I may as well stick with what I've got.

Thanks again.

it stops being PRO as soon as you buy it, because as far as i can see, there is NO difference between PRO and the regular LimeWire.

Looks like the 6 month option is still available, but it's pretty well hidden now:p

Once you click on the 'Get LimeWire Pro' button & go to the page to enter purchase details, the term of purchase defaults to 1 year. Click on Change Term & there's the option for 6 months also.

Also, if you click on Features (top of the page) on the LW site, the 6 month option still shows.
