Default Gnotella Run time error '5'

Can anyone help ?
I am running Gnotella 0.9.9 on Windows 98 and have previously used it OK but now it keeps dropping out with a "Run time error '5'" VB error. This happens before the 'newer version' message comes up.
Does anyone have any idea what the prob could be, I have VB6 installed on my machine which I have re-installed and I have also installed the latest Windows98 and IE5 service updates (all since the problem occurred).

I would guess something in the ini file has become corrupted. You can rename gnotella.ini and restart the program to get a fresh start (you will have to reset shared and download directories, etc.) and I would bet that will fix the problem.

I have removed everything from my PC and re-installed.
The same error is coming up and, on checking, there is no gnotella.ini file on my hard drive.
Any further ideas ? DLLs to re-register etc ?

I have the same problem with a first time install of Gnotella on Win98SE.

I have installed Gnotella v0.9.9 but every time I try to connect I get "Runtime Error 5 - Invalid call or argument" with following details:

GNOTELLA caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:00000001.

The only way I could get round this in the end was to take a copy of the .ini file from my installation at work and change the obvious settings to work at home.
This on its own does not solve the problem as I have to cancel the dial-up that occurs when I start Gnutella and start up an internet connection separately after Gnutella has started up.
If I do not cancel the dial-up or if the internet connection is already open when Gnutella starts, I still get the Run Time Error.
I don't know if its significant, but every time I start Gnutella, it goes through the licence 'Accept' screen as if it hasn't fully installed. Could this be down to registry settings not being removed when I uninstalled it previously ?

I have also just started getting this after normal use for a week or so.
Tried the above 'ini. rename' with no result.
