socket errors I periodically get the following non-fatal error when searching - sometimes repeatedly: Sock X Error 24053 Connection was aborted due to timeout or other failure 1False (where X is some number) Gnutella 0.6.6, Windows NT Workstation 4.0 SP5 |
The error number appears to vary as well. I just got another one, this time error number 24057: Sock X Error 24057 Socket is not connected 1False |
I am getting the same error under Win2000: Sock 2 Error 24053 Connection was aborted due to timeout or other failure 1False. |
I've noticed that ALL reports of the debug messages bug has been from people running Windows NT/2K. Shaun has a laptop with Win2K Pro running on it, and says he hasn't encountered the problem. At this point, this is really the only bug we havn't addressed and have NO idea what is causing this (because we can not duplicate it). We're totally lost on this one... I guess as a last-ditch effort if we don't find it, Shaun could add a "do not display 32xxx errors" to toggle that range of error messages on/off. -Yytrium- [This message has been edited by Yytrium (edited 06-27-2000).] |

I am using Windows 98 and FREQUENTLY get an error message stating "Sock X (x is often 20 or 21) 24050 network subsystem has failed 1false". A similar message will appear shortly afterward for every file being transferred. The software must then be forceably terminated. FYI I am running a Zonealarm firewall, and Sygate NAT software. Usually the software works, so it is clearly an intermittent problem and apparently not unique to NT or Win2k. Sorry guys :-) It may be more prevalent when I am conducting multiple searches, but I haven't tested this... |
I have gotten that type of message as well, running Win98SE, with IE5.0.2919 internet package on ADSL / WinPOET / NTS PPPoE. |
i too have experienced these messages in both win98 and win2k. I had assumed what was happening here was that as I limit the number of uploads, other users may still request uploads, and when an upload becomes available, they are gone or have aborted the request; thus a timeout error. Was this a faulty assumption? Can I help out with any more info? btw, I still think its the best gnutella client out there! |
