Good question, it's a common one (in fact, I updated the Gnotella FAQ the other day to reflect this question at http://gnotella.nerdherd.net/help.html#Q_FOURTEEN ). No, boolean operators are not allowed. Right now Shaun is working really hard on sockets, so this is going to fall under a low priority at the moment, but it has been recognized.
