what does "requesting push" mean? How do I respond?

That message appears after you commanded that file to be downloaded. You don't need to do anything manually as that is just an interim status message (where your client requests that the file be sent {ie, pushed} to you).

"Push" technology was widely talked about as part of internet marketing promotion a few years back.

If the download stays on "Requesting Push" it is most likely that the person you are trying to download the file from is no longer online or has moved/deleted the file.
