Connect through a proxy How do I connect through the proxy server on our LAN? We use the option in IE5 to connect to the internet via a proxy server:8080. |
Forward the port on the proxy, for example 6346, to the machine running Gnotella. Then use the "Force Local IP to:" option in Gnotella to specify the proxy's outside address. This will probably work, I'm not 100% sure -- these are instructions for using Gno behind a NAT box, but will probably work with the proxy as well. -Yytrium- P.S. - I have no experience setting up Gnotella behind a proxy, don't be surprised if this doesn't work. |
If you are trying to get the Gnutella client to see out, and your proxy server has SOCKS 4 or 5 capabilities, use a program like SocksCap. http://www.socks.nec.com/ You will need this because all existing Gnet clients that I know of do not support proxies. If you are trying to get someone on the outside to connect to your computer directly, you would have to map a port on the proxy server. It MUST be the same TCP port that you are using in your client, eg 6346. Map it to 6346 on your local computer. |
