Listen Port Unavailable I have Gnotella v0.70 running on Win98 Every now and then I notice that it stops communicating. I shut the application down, and restart it. When restarting, I receive the error Listen Port Unavailable The current port is not available, please try a different port. I then change port numbers and everything works OK. Any ideas? This is likely because the previous instance of Gnotella still had the port in use. It should time out after a while, or simply restarting Windows will free the port. -Yytrium- |
You explained how to fix the port issue, but I didn't see anything on why the program stops communicating. I have the same problem. Is this a bug that is already known about? |
I found that when gnotella crashes the port stays open also. The workaround I have found is to reopen gnotella after a crash, see the "port open" message, then close it, then relaunch it. At least this works for me. YMMV. |
Buck Satan?! Are you are who I think you are?!! Hah! -Yytrium- |
it seems Gnotella is not completely closing, therefore the port is still in use. I too experience the lockups (especially frustrating during a long download) Even after closing Gnotella, killing the process and restarting it, it still hangs, a windows reboot repairs it... Weird O_o I hope it's just net congestion... http://forums.gnutellanews.com/wink.gif |
