Does Gnotella work in Windows XP

I am rrunning windows XP. I have Gnotella 1.0.5 that was running pretty good in 2000 before I updated to XP. However I get a lot of problems with Gnotella now. Are there any known fixes or problems for Gnotella running on Windows XP..?

I use LimeWire in Windows XP, and works fine - Try using compatability mode ONE THING - XP IS BUILT ON THE WINDOWS 2000 KERNAL, SO THAT SHOULD NOT BE THE PROBLEM

And as for Windows XP. Any Win32-client should work on WinXP. But I would suggest you get LimeWire 1.9 alpha. It now has swarmed downloads and seems to work ok.

I compiled it from cvs and you should be able to access it at ftp://whitedragon.dyndns.org/lw.zip . I tested it on linux, so I can't give you any guarantee it will even start.

works fine, just don't use luna themes, stick to classic if you have problems

lw sucks now, forced spyware, ads, and a suck *** playlist.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. You can get LimeWire without ads at limewire.org (or even at limewire.com, if you know where to look).

Shaun Sidwall posted a message regarding XP on the Gnotella forums.

Quote:

Windows XP has unfortunately broken some backwards compatibility with its new GUI that can cause Gnotella to crash.

A simple work around that solves the problem is described below:

1. Find Gnotella.exe where you installed Gnotella.
2. Right-click and choose Properties.
3. Goto the Compatibility tab.
4. Disable Visual Themes for Gnotella.

Thats it, problem solved.
The message can be read in context at Must Read For XP Users on the Gnotella forums website.
