High CPU utilization

I just installed Gnotella for the very first time (v 0.70). I must say, I'm very impressed at the great GUI interface.

However, the CPU utilization is crazy. I'm consisently seeing 90-99% CPU utilizationon my P3-600 w/ 256MB RAM! Is this normal?

I had the same question. My CPU utilization is 100% on at PIII450 with 256MB. I'm using v.70...

Can this be normal?

I don't know it it's normal, but I get the same high CPU utilization as well. For what it's worth, the platform OS I was using is Win 2000.

Same for me, running a 667 celeron, with 256RAM. Try to juice up the connections since im working on a T3 connection. It is using 100% of my processor. Why?????? And I dont even get that many search results. I have 20 connections up.

20 connections?!? You don't need more than 4 or 5, regardless of what kind of connection you're on. It doesn't really help if you have more. That's probably why it's using 100% of your processor.

Dammit, does no one know why gnotella constantly flashes too 100% cpu usage on my 700mhz Athlon (128meg ram)... I'm also running win2k if that makes a difference.

Well, I get 100% utilization as well. I'm running W2K Pro with SP1 and the latest updates. It uses 100% of cpu utilization whenever I'm doing a file transfer with icq or g6ftp. I've got high bandwidth, so there is plenty to go around. I also have "low" settings for connections to servers or uploading. I've got the latest version of Gnotella as well. Any ideas? Thanks. davidasekoff@mediaone.net

Of note, even when I close gnutella, the CPU maxes out. I can stop doing file transfers on icq or close/reopen it/g6 ftp and I get the same issue. I need to reboot. I also have 1/2 gb of RAM. Any ideas? Thanks. davidasekoff@mediaone.net

I am running a PII 400 with 128 meg, win2k pro, and I only get about 25% utilization averaged.

I am running version 0.9.9 as well.

maybe that helped? I aslo only have 4 hosts set up.

I think it isn't gnotella running by itself in W2K. It's as if it does something to the TCPIP/sockets stack while running. Have you tried running icq and /or a ftp client or server at the same time? I.E., I get the issue while running Gnotella along with a file transfer going on with one of those 3 apps. It's as if it doesn't like sharing the direct file transfers.........and "hogs" the cpu time for itself and doesn't give it up. When I close gnotella, or the other apps, it doesn't help. I have to reboot. It only happens about 1/3 of the time.
