Gnucleus needs a help file

Gnucleus is a fantastic servent. It does just about everything a good servent should do and does it easily and intuitively. Unfortunately it is inaccessible to new users of the gnutella network because it lacks even the most rudimentary help file. There is no explanation of any of the settings, preferences or menus. This is really no problem for anyone familiar with any of the other gnutella servents because they all work in basically the same way, but to someone new to gnutella it presents a real problem. This becomes a real problem for Gnucleus because it means that new users will try it, become confused, and either move to another servent or stop using gnutella altogether. Once a new user gets used to, and likes another servent, they are less likely to give Gnucleus another try. Take a look at Limewire's or Bearshare's online help. This is what Gnucleus needs. And it should be made a priority.

Hallo Bodhi (and all others, too :)

This is very true, a good documentation, on- or offline, should be of high priority. The people at Gnucleus seem to feel this also, for they made also a part of their site for documentation, but it is empty, as you surely saw also.

So I offered my help, at least to translate the hopefully soon existing parts of the documentation to German and French*, and if other people will help also, I think this work could be accomplished soon.

Will you not offer your help also?

Greetings....

Your English is fine...really...

I would be happy to help type the text, take screenshots, and whatever else I may be able to do to help. I do not know what format the text should be in, or much else about how help files are formatted or stored, but with a little guidance I'd be happy to do some of the footwork necessary to get this done.

Let me know what I can do to be of assistance..

Feedback: Gnucleus help file

Hallo:

I emailed the people at gnucleus, offered translation service (is this the right word?) first, and I got already an answer:

[> Im going to put together a documentation core soon. There's a a bunch of
people who want to get documentation on the road. Especially a lot of
international users. I'll let you know soon.]

Some of my friends volunteered too, so I offered core documentation help besides translation also. I will post news here, if wanted.

Bodhi:
At first, thank you for the compliment :-). If you wish and permit I mail the correspondence direct to you.

Greetings......

docs

I thought the idea of the sourceforge doc area is anyone can improve the documents and just post it or the diffs so that many people can put in just a little time each. If they have a mail list you should join that too.
No one needs to ask permission to join in and help with a open source project.

Ok, thanks...I'll look into that.

True - but my goal here is not about permission, it is about coordination of our efforts..... :-)

Translators/helpers wanted

Hallo:

Documentation work has started here; we think we will accomplish a fairly complete one to the end of June.

A translation to german is very sure; a translation to french very likely. But no one of us speaks spanish and italian, so we would appreciate if anybody will help us and translate parts of the basic english texts to spanish/italian? My french is not the best, so french help will be appreciated, too.

If there are other people out there who are also writing documentation we would like to join or coordinate our efforts!

Please feel free to mail me: chr_rossi@web.de

Greetings.....
