Gnucleus is a chatterbox ?

Hi, I've just tried gnucleus for the first time. It seems like a great little program but just one question. When I'm connected but neither uploading nor downloading anything there still seems to be constant network activity. It's only about 1 to 2 kiloBytes/sec, but it's in both directions and I'm not sure why. The program itself is not reporting any upload or download activity but my dial up connection status is indicating it very clearly.

When I noticed this unaccounted network activity I first thought I had some spyware or virus but I've now ruled that out, it's definitely gnucleus causing the traffic. So I'm guessing gnucleus is just using this traffic as part of maintaining the network, can anyone explain what's going on with this background gnucleus traffic, I've used some other file share programs before and never had this issue with them.

Thanks. :)

Salut, you are probably an ultrapeer that helps people firewalled or on slow connections to connect to Gnutella. If you have more than 5 Gnutella connections or more than 2 G2 connections, that is it.

Ciao

As you said, this bandwidth is indeed needed to maintain the network.
