Bandwidth hog?!?!?

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed Gnucleus being a badnwidth hog? I could be wrong, and I often am but i just seems that everytime i load up Gnucleus it makes browsing the internet via netscape slow as the 10 year itch.

Any hints/tips for freeing up a little bandwidth for my other online enjoyment or do i just have to wait itout till after i shut Gnucleus down??

Go to Edit>preferences

You will see a chain of options on the left side of the window that pops up. One of them reads bandwidth, it will allow you to limit the total download and upload bandwidth

i have a question about this
does the max up/down bandwidth include the traffic caused by connecting to other nodes?

thanks

No it does not include connections to a node. When I am using my computer for other internet activity's other than Gnucleus I limit my upload bandwidth but the total send bandwidth is always greater then my limit.

well,
then i would like to have a feature to regulate not only upload/download speed but all the traffic.

thanks

Bandwidth Hog

I use Gnotella and I track all of the requests I get. It really seems to be that most of the Gnucleus users have set their download request to ping my files every 10-20 seconds or less. This is becomming a real hassle, because it is causing alot of traffic on my server. I'll have to start putting certain IP addresses in my blocked ISP addresses. With over 5 GB's of files being shared, I would think that I would have more uploads from me a day, however it is because several uploads have hogged up all the available ports. Please increase your requests to over 30 seconds, otherwise, I'm going to share alot less files.

So what are some good limits to have if I'm shareing a DSL with at least 3 other computers???

Well with DSL and cable both capped now you have to pay out the **** if you want any decent upload speed I messed with the max node connections I don't think they do anything after 5-6 I put it on 20 and it never went above 6 and I saw that to many node connecionts can make list old just babbling because I don't want to do my school work :(
