Oldfashioned concept?

Isn't gtk-gnutella obsolete because it's programmed in C? It can't use STL or exchange code with other C++/OOP projects and will die in the end?

Unregistered July 28th, 2002 10:00 AM

who uses gtk-gnutella anyway? 10 users, 20 users worldwide?

Unregistered July 29th, 2002 12:01 AM

pffft, gtk-gnutella is sweet.

-------------
Happy user of gtk-gnutella 0.90.

Unregistered July 29th, 2002 05:02 AM

at least one user, amazing. it's oldfashioned

Hey, show me something better (that does not run under java). :D :D :D

Unregistered August 1st, 2002 06:21 AM

even Bearshare is better LOL

mort4 August 8th, 2002 12:43 PM

Something better :

Gnucleus, Shareaza, Bearshare, Atomwire (Gnucleus clone), Xolox, Morpheus (Gnucleus clone), Limewire, Mutella, Qtella, Phex, Napshare, Swapper...

few ones are worse.

Check your sources!

STOP!

You said Napshare is better than gtk-gnutella.

My poor friend, Napshare is a fork of gtk-gnutella at an earlier version that has not evolved much since!

How could it be better?

Goodbye, my friend!

peerogue, Napshare has 'AUTOMATION' feature, gtkgnutella not.

Unregistered August 12th, 2002 12:27 AM

back to first poster. how many projects would you find on source forge not being OO, how many are still interesting?

If you think that only OO is interesting and non-OO projects are boring, why don't you find yourself a little OO project and leave us alone?

For your information, good OO languages are rare, and it's hard to find good OO programmers.

Have fun! And please come back tell us when you have found your pet OO project, we're really interested.

why don't you answer, is gtkgnutella oldfashioned or not?

ram August 12th, 2002 01:32 PM

Yes, it is old-fashionned if you like. Now please go back to your sandbox.

LOL!!!

hey, it's working for somebody. I upload to them pretty much every day. AND, they are usually polite, easy going connections that get what they want. (At least from me!!) :D

peerogue August 13th, 2002 12:46 AM

For an old-fashionned concept, I think it rocks quite well.

Think how it would rock if it were a modern concept!

it doesn't work

no downloads start!

up2late July 27th, 2005 07:39 PM

Wow STL what a concept

Ok first of all lets just look at performance and speed for awhile shall we? if it were written in c++, yeah we could use some map containers and other neat stuff but if anyone is trying to say this program is not compatable with c++ should pick up a c++ book and do a little reading. Second lets try and see why linux is and will always be faster then windows, AH its writtin in "c" and so is the entire kernel. C++ is a wonderfull enhancement to c and can really speed up the time it takes to code the app, and code reuse is there but so is there overhead, i look at it as use the right tool for the job. I like both tools. later

does Morpheus run under Debian?

Hyper-kun June 29th, 2006 10:57 AM

Foxmuldar, please improve your forum skills. This is not
the "Gnutella with Linux" forum. Also don't hijack threads for
your questions, especially not ones that have ended years ago.

This the Gtk-Gnutella forum and incidently Gtk-Gnutella works
on Linux and installing it on debian is as easy as typing
"apt-get gtk-gnutella" and then type "gtk-gnutella" to start
it.

I've never heard of Morpheus, I don't know what it is and I
believe I don't want to know either.

foxmuldar June 29th, 2006 11:08 AM

thank you?

vetal17 July 16th, 2006 08:09 PM

gtkg kicks ***, son:
1. it's gtk=fast
2. not java=fast
3. stable
---------
so all you haters can go back to not free/slow/java-based limewire or whatever
