Upload slots - why do they expand?

I am online 24/7 - I have my upload slots set as 4 max, 2 per host.

Normally this works fine, however, sometimes - with no apparent rhyme or reason, I'll look and see that I have 33 slots going (right now, for example, I have 5 going, even though I have my maximum simultaneous uploads set to 4). What is going on? I'm not trying to restrict people, but 33??? Who wants to download a file at .2 k/s?

Do you have your upload bandwidth limited?
Because then gtkg may open new upload slots. Look into the options ... maybe setting the percentage for opening a new slot when not all bandwidth is used from 70 to 90 helps or disabling that feature at all?

Thanks. In Config >> Bandwidth Control, I've disabled Dynamic Upload Slot Allocation, and it seems to have worked. I'd actually tried that earlier, and it didn't make a difference. However, I'm using a source-based distro, and I update regularly, so that was with an earlier version.
