cannot connect

Hello
I have installed the gtk-gnutella 0.90-stable which came along with the disribution of the Suse Linux.
Launching from the menu of kde won't work, so I had to use the line command. The code works but cannot connect (gNet nodes 0/0). The gnutella network panel reports failed attempts to connecto to servers (Timeout), and on the terminal I get messages like

** WARNING **: cannot resolve connect1.gnutellanet.com:
gethostbyname(): Host name lookup failure

for all the hosts.
I must say I am trying to migrate from w98 to linux, so many aspects of the os fails me and I might have overlooked something.
Has anybody an idea what should I do to connect?
