Don't want to download the kernel

hello friends,

I want new to Linux, I don't want to download the kernel, which is just a component in a working Linux system and tell me where the Linux tool bar in the Linux.

The kernel is the 'application' which is run when your linux boots. It communicates with your hardware.
On top of your kernel run the applications like gtk-gnutella. Gtk-gnutella doesn't force you to upgrade the kernel.
