mike b needs some help

hi i`m Mike from the netherlands
i have a question
i don`t have a legal version of microsoft windows and when i try to play a video file a pop up tells me that i need to validate my windows media player
how can i play a video file without using windows media player?
or how can i use another player?
I already know that i can use the LW player for mp3 files so now my question is can i also do that with video files like per example avi or mpeg/?
hope to hear from you people soon

greetings from holland mike b

First of all, that's here the Phex client forum, not the LimeWire client forum.

You could try to use a different media player such as the free VLC player with built-in codecs which can play almost all media files without problems. You can download it from here:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
As a side note, to preview files with it you'll have to open the files directly from the Incomplete folder and not via the LW preview function.

If you enjoy the Windows version you are using, buy it! ...otherwise deinstall it.

The new VLC version allows you to "Fix" a video when it is in incomplete state. DON'T allow it to do this. Otherwise it will affect LW's continuation of downlding the file. ;)
And in future, please keep your LimeWire questions to this section: Limewire Forum sections
Phex is a different gnutella program. If you're using Phex which is a great program, then you can post here.
