Hello there, this is my first post ever, so ill keep it short, basically my phex is not connecting to anyone, it detects people but just says connecting for ages under the status bar until it says connection timed out. it keeps restarting till it finally gives up. then Phex gives up connecting at all. if it helps my address is 127.0.0.1:11780 and im using Windows Xp with a router and Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton Firewall 2007, my router is Netgear, thanks greatly please help A.S.A.P as im eager to begin sharing and giving what i have to offer.

You need to tell your router and your security software to let Phex through...

Still Nothing

hi there my router has UPnP turned on, but im not sure how to allow Phex through my security software, however when i disable the security i still cant connect. forgot to say in my last post that the first time i ever tried Phex it actually worked. i am using Phex 2.8.10.98 because i can't seem to get a link that actually works for Phex 3.0.99, is this the problem?
thanks for helping anyway,
kam:rolleyes:

UPnP doesn't yet work reliably, so you'll need to forward the ports manually.

Just check this guide:

http://www.phex.org/mambo/content/view/55/25/

this might help, too:

http://www.hackernotcracker.com/2006...indows-xp.html

You can find your Port on the network tab (after thhe colon after the IP).

I think this is more exactly tailored to your needs:

Google search for Negear and port forwarding:

Leads to:

Still Nothing

i have added two new ports using the web links you offered, however i am still not able to begin doneloading and i have no conections. i have tried Limewire and Xolox but neither work, however they work on my laptop, i wanted to download using my computer, any other suggestions? i am not able to connect to host, they just time out and eventually give up, thats the problem.
thanks for any help though,
kam:confused:

Which ports did you add?
The port found in the network tab of Phex?

And did you disable your firewall for testing?

Kam January 13th, 2007 07:40 AM

hello, i have tried disabling my firewall and my antivirus software, (at the same time) but still no changes and i added port 11780 (this was in the network tab as "listening port") as this:

Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address
Phex 11780 11780 192.168.1.2

and i also added a HTTP port like this
Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address
HTTP 80 80 192.168.1.2

and to access this option page i typed 192.168.1.1,
once again thanks for any help,
Kam

You shouldn't need the HTTP-Port (it's a security risk).

Aside from this your config looks good.

Did you disable the firewall in Norton _and_ in Windows?

Also this guide might be of Help (in case of SP2):
http://www.phex.org/mambo/content/view/49/33/

dear phex, i looked at your reply and yes that SP2 was affecting me, i raised the limit and disabled both windows and norton firewalls, however nothing has changed for me, i also have Windows Defender, is this affecting me? im beginging to feel that Phex isnt what its said to be...if you have any more ideas please do not hesitate to offer them, if you provide an email address i can send a screenshot of the problem or any other screenshots, if they help.
thanks for any help
Kam
