Phex 3.2 won't run: 0SX 10.4 Phex 3.2 won't start on my Intel Mac Mini running Java 1.5. It bounces in the dock for less than a second then disappears. I had no issues running the most previous version. Any thoughts? Or a link to the previous version? Intel Mac Mini OSX 10.4 Java2 1.5 No Virus software conflicts |
Do you have anything in your phex.error.log file? You might find it in your ~/Library/Application Support/Phex folder. |
It hasn't created that file. I ran a system search for it, just in case, with no results. BTW, previous PHEX installs did create the folder in application support. They were deleted to get a fresh install. Java is verifying...and working with other programs. Any other ideas? |
Did you start Phex by commandline? with "java -jar phex.jar"? Or did you use the OS X packaged App? |
I used the packaged app. Should I try the command line? |
yes |
I"ll give it a go when I get home from work. |
ok.. please post any output in case you get something. |
Ok, this is what I'm getting. I obviously included the "Input/Output" text to show what I typed. Hopefully I did it right. If I type in the address to the .jar file without calling java I get a permissions error. Don't know if that's important. Input java -jar /Applications/phex_3.2.2.104/Phex.app/Contents/Resources/Java/phex.jar Output Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java :620) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Secure ClassLoader.java:124) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader .java:260) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$100(URLClassLoader. java:56) at java.net.URLClassLoader*****run(URLClassLoader.jav a:195) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.j ava:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:3 06) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launche r.java:268) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:2 51) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoade r.java:319) |
what is the output of "java -version" Phex needs 1.5 |
See below. I also double checked my Java preferences, I have it running J2SE 5.0. java version "1.5.0_13" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05-241) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-121, mixed mode, sharing) |
OK... I think I know where the problem is. I will try to publish a new release on Sunday or Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience and many thanks for the help to find the problem. |
Rockin' No problems at all. Glad to be the Guinea Pig :) |
It might take some more time until the download is available on all the mirrors. But it would be great if you can try if it now works for you. Phex 3.2.4 Download Gregor |

Phex 3.2.0.102 connects fine for me. (though I perhaps shouldn't mention that.) |
It's working now! Thanks much. |
Now my issue is that I can't connect to any hosts. They all time out. Again, my computer has the same exact setup as with previous versions of PHEX. Only this time it's not working. Could my firewall be stopping this version for some reason? |

This version connects fine except it seemed to take longer than normal to find stable multiple hosts to connect to. :) |
Dang. I've had to edit this post 3 times. Everything's fine. Connects fine and downloads file fully! |
